Degree certificate
Students who have completed a Programme at University West and have fulfilled the requirements can apply for a Degree Certificate.
Prior to filling out your application, check your Transcript of Records to make sure that all courses required for the degree are registered with the final mark (courses indicated with an asterisk *). If information is missing you must contact the responsible department. An incomplete application will delay the process.
The processing of your application begins when all information is completed. The Degree Certificate will be issued approximately within two months, depending on work load. The Degree Certificate is a valuable document which will only be issued once.
The Degree Certificate will be issued both in Swedish and English and it will be sent by post to the address given in the application. Please make sure the address you state in your application is legible.
Students applying for Master's Degree have to show the original of your previous Degree Certificate at our Office of Degrees. A Transcript of records or a provisional Degree/Diploma is not accepted for your new Degree Certificate. If we have not seen the original we cannot issue your Master's Degree on completed education. Diploma Supplement
Attached to the degree certificate you will also receive a document in English called a Diploma Supplement. The Diploma Supplement (DS), following an established European template, provides a standardized description of the level, context, content and status of the studies pursued and successfully completed by the graduate.
The Diploma Supplement is being issued in a widely spoken European language (English). All students at University West receive a Diploma Supplement automatically and free of charge upon graduation together with their degree certificates.
The purpose of the Diploma Supplement is to make it easier for foreign employers and universities to understand how the Swedish courses, programmes and qualifications correspond to equivalents in their own countries. This will in turn make working and studying abroad less complicated for Swedish students. The Diploma Supplement is a supplement to, not a substitute for, the degree certificate. The degree certificate and the diploma supplement can only be awarded once.
The Diploma Supplement was introduced in Sweden on 1 January 2003. University West does not issue Diploma Supplements retroactively.
