Student in networking best in Sweden

Robert Larsson, University West, won the competition Cisco NetRiders, a global competition for students who have taken courses under the Cisco Certified Network Associate. These Cisco courses are included in the educational programme Network Technology with IT security, which Robert Larsson follows at University West.
Cisco is the worldwide leader in network and Internet solutions and you find one of Ciscos Networking Academy at University West. The university is responsible for certification and in the programme Network Technology with IT security the students get this possibilty. Students in grades one can enter the contest NetRiders. There were six students from University West that attended and besides Robert who won, two of the other students came among the top five.
- It's of course great that our students have this qualities and skills. Last year, nobody wanted to participate but now it was kind of a success, says Andreas de Blanche, teacher at University West.
The competition is divided into three steps. First there is a local competition, for University West this means a competition within Sweden. The top three advance to the next level - Europe, Middle East and Africa - where the finals will be held July 3. The top four in that final advance to the global finals held in California, USA.
- It would of course be great to go all the way to the finals in the U.S. and have the possibility to go there. For me it was a fun thing to do and I did not think I had anything to lose. Now it went better than expected and it feels of course great, says Robert Larsson.
Robert says he also had a fever the day of the contest so he does not know how he could do so well. But now he looks forward to July 3 when he gets to go to the next finals in Gothenburg.
