Liuchun Meng, who is studying an International Master Programme in Information Systems at University West, has been awarded the award Global Swede. Ewa Björling, Minister for Trade, awarded diplomas to him and 23 other foreign students studying at universities in Sweden.

Liuchun Meng and other selected students have excelled in areas related to innovation and entrepreneurship. Liuchun Meng is from China and have thus chosen to study informatics at master level at University West. He also has plans to remain and seek doctoral studies at the university.

Good ambassadors
It was the second consecutive year that the annual graduation ceremony took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and now, like last year, the Minister for Trade delivered a speech about the hopes and aims of the initiative Global Swede. The hope of the concept is that foreign students in the future will be good ambassadors for a positive image of Sweden and that they will serve as key contacts for Swedish business abroad.

Global Swede is a collaboration between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Swedish Institute. The concept can be seen as a complement to the Government's Cosmopolitan Project, which aims to take advantage of foreign-born unique skills in order to increase foreign trade, create more job opportunities and higher growth.
