Child and Youth Studies
There is extensive ongoing research at University West in the field of Child and Youth Studies. Over fifty researchers are active in the field and they are joined in a research centre since the spring of 2011. Here both their own collaboration and collaboration with external partners can be developed.
The research centre involves disciplines such as Psychology, Sociology, Education and Cultural Studies and the research is focusing on three themes:
- Learning and education
- Development, family and conditions of life
- Culture, leisure and peer relationships
Today there are about 50 research projects in these areas going on. Some of the researchers work together on projects at University West. Several collaborate with researchers at other universities in Sweden and abroad.
The overall aim for the group's activity is to spread knowledge about the conditions of children and young people and thereby strengthen their positions in society.
