20 years

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the University of Trollhättan/Uddevalla, now the University West.


The university was established on the 1st of July 1990, and its solemn opening ceremony was held in November the same year with the Minister of Education Bengt Göransson as inaugurator.

During 2010, our history and achievment will be given attention in different ways. A 20 years anniversary book is under production. It will be issued in connection with the university's academic festivities, held on Friday 29 October. On that occasion the anniversary will be given some special attention.

Production of a film is also planned, with the ambition to give form to the University's 20-year journey into the 2010s via digital media.

More public events will also highlight the anniversary. On Saturday 25 September, the University holds its Open House for the third consecutive year. This year the programme will be seasoned with a number of anniversary seminars and other program items related to the anniversary.

A concert is planned in late spring, and the coming autumn's Science Café programme will also include some anniversary ingredients.
