Welcome  to a Seminar on “Intercultural learning” by Arjan Verdooren.

This presentation explores reflections on intercultural learning, the process of enhancing communication in multicultural settings.

Despite its growing popularity in academic and professional contexts, the concept of culture has sparked significant controversy, leading to a more nuanced understanding of interculturality.

Recognizing this complexity challenges many assumptions surrounding intercultural learning. Drawing from his experience as an educator and author, Arjan advocates for viewing intercultural learning as a transformative process, as defined by Jack Mezirow (1978).

This perspective fosters a sustainable approach that incorporates diverse cultural viewpoints and opens avenues for research on the experiences of both learners and educators.
