Why did you apply to University West?

I applied to University West because I had previously studied there for my bachelor’s degree and other courses. I was very satisfied with these studies, especially the bachelor programme, and had a very good impression of University West, primarily because of Work Integrated Learning and the competent teachers and researchers I had contact with during those studies.

Why did you apply to this programme?

I applied to the programme because it was a part-time and distance learning programme, which made it possible for me to study and work at the same time. Of course, I was also interested in knowing more and deepening my knowledge about children and youth studies.

Did the programme meet your expectations?

It was actually better than I thought it would be. Distance learning can be a real challenge but there were never any problems with the technology or with the collaboration with the other students. Therefore, I am really satisfied with the time I spent studying on the master’s programme.

What is the most exciting thing you have done during your studies?

The by far most exciting part was the master’s thesis, which allowed me to study a very interesting subject – structural conditions based on age considering information about treatments for gambling problems. This was, in many ways, a fantastic journey! All through the programme it was also possible to shine a light on the power aspect relating to children and youth, as well as the conditions that surround them.

What are your future plans?

In the near future I will continue to study improvement sciences, but in the long term my dream is to do research. Therefore, my next step, hopefully, is to take one step further on my academic journey and continue with doctoral studies.

How do you think studying here at University West and your programme can help you to reach your goals?

I’m sure that this programme at University West has made me even more motivated to follow my dream towards the research field. At the same time, my studies at University West have also ‘sharpened my elbows’ and have made me more ready to take this first step on the road towards a doctoral exam.
