The course covers the programming standard IEC 61131-3 for PLCs and how larger control applications are structured and organized according to this standard. It covers modern automation systems, including human machine interfaces, networked control systems, communication, and fieldbuses. After the course the student can independently design control applications according to IEC 61131-3, based on a specification. The student will also be able to evaluate and apply principles of machine safety, safety PLCs, and risk reduction.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Degree of Bachelor of Science in computer engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or industrial engineering and management. Additionally, the Bachelor of Science degree must be comprised of a minimum of 5 HE credits in programming and 15 HE credits in mathematics. Verified knowledge of English corresponding to the course English 6 or English level 2 in the Swedish Upper Secondary School (high school) or equivalent.

You also need approved result from the following course/courses: RBK600 Robot Certificate or the equivalent.
