Resilient and Sustainable Supply Chains, 7.5 hp
This course provides knowledge and insight into how organizations should operate and act outside their own companies and how their leaders should strive to create agile, dynamic companies that are resilient, meaning they have the ability to adapt to unforeseen events. To achieve resilience, it is important to be dynamic downstream toward customers and upstream toward suppliers. It is therefore crucial to have control over the entire value chain, from raw material supplier to end customer. Additionally, the course will discuss why processes and value chains must be robust and flexible in order to become robust, which is a fundamental requirement for achieving resilience. A combined quality management philosophy (Lean Six Sigma), which is a first step toward resilience, will be presented in the course. However, five additional principles/factors are presented in the research literature and in the course to create resilient supply chains. These five principles will be covered: establishing a risk management culture, being design- and innovation-led, fostering collaboration and integration management, embedding values and methods, and creating processes that are agile and sustainable.
