Why this programme expand_more
Dual focus on large businesses and SMEs
Recognising higher levels of involvement of SMEs (small and medium-sized enterprises) in international operations, your courses pay equal attention to large companies operating globally and SMEs – whether they are making their first steps into international markets or rapidly expanding internationally.
Furthermore, while studying in Trollhättan, which is located near the Swedish-Norwegian border (EU external border), you can expect a stronger focus on the needs and challenges of cross-border SMEs.
International environment
Your programme is fully taught in English. Both students and staff are coming from different parts of the world (Europe, Asia, Africa, North and South America), giving you an enriching experience relevant to your future in international business. Additionally, all disciplines you’ll study are put in an international context. You’ll be prepared to engage on an international level academically, socially and culturally for work in the field.
Swedish practices in ethical business
Sweden is known as a global leader in responsible business practices. Every part of the programme emphasises international business ethics, the socially responsible behaviour of business actors and sustainability as the dominating logic of the value creation process.
International environment
University West offers a very personal campus environment without the usual barriers between academic staff and students. Here, your professors are easily accessible to answer questions, hold discussions and provide individual feedback.
The Master's Programme in International Business normally enrols about 20 students. This size is optimal for effective interactions in class, performing and presenting project work and individual and small group supervision as well as extracurricular activities outside the university such as team-building, leadership development or cultural awareness exercises.
Work integrated learning
University West is Sweden’s leading university when it comes to Work Integrated Learning (WIL). The university was tasked with the development of WIL by the Swedish government 15+ years ago and continues to lead the field today. WIL in your programme gives you an opportunity to identify and solve real-life problems faced by international companies in the global business environment using a scientific approach.
Forms of WIL you may experience include company-initiated projects, meetings with international companies’ representatives or participation in university research and development projects conducted in collaboration with the private and public sectors. Emphasis is placed on bridging theories and the current practices of international business operations.
