We take responsibility for local and regional social development that meets current needs. At the same time, we also strive to raise our eyes and act based on national and global perspectives.

We have the courage to focus on academic excellence and pioneering international research, and aim to be at the cutting edge within our strengths. Honing and maintaining our unique strengths is also a question of survival. Here, we create new multidisciplinary knowledge in order to become leaders nationally and position ourselves on the global arena.

At the same time, we also take on board knowledge from others with humility, and see mutual collaboration as something that takes place as a matter of course. We are flexible and sensitive in our collaboration, but are also professional and a driving force. This is how we help to resolve complex societal challenges. This is how we make a difference as an academic institution.

Strategies

In order to achieve these three objectives and fulfil our role effectively for our students, our partners and society as a whole, we need to focus on several areas. Each objective therefore has a number of highlighted strategic initiatives that lay the foundation for succeeding in achieving our vision. These strategies have three-year timeframes, and apply for the period 2022–2024. Both the objectives and the strategies are followed up annually.

• Mobilise our operations towards two complete academic environments, Work Integrated Learning and Production technology, in which we integrate collaboration, research and education at every level.
• Make international perspectives and cooperation part of our day-to-day work.
