Getting Started with Generative AI
There is currently a wide range of tools for different applications within the framework of generative AI. Here at University West, both students and employees can use Microsoft Copilot, an advanced GenAI tool.
Copilot has a chat feature that can help users with different types of tasks, such as generating text and images, analyzing data, processing text, programming, and much more.
Get started with Copilot
- Go to: copilot.microsoft.com
- Click on "Sign in"
- Select: "Sign in with a work or school account"
- Log in with your HV login (id@hv.se + password)
- Approve the sign-in with "Microsoft Authenticator"
- Now you are logged in and can start using the service.
You can easily give instructions to Copilot on the type of response you want. Choosing "More creative" gives Copilot the freedom to think freely, but if you're looking for an answer that's more accurate, you should choose "More accurate." Remember to always have a critical approach to generated information and to be able to assess its veracity.
Get started with Copilot in the Edge browser
- Click the Copilot icon in the upper-right corner of the Microsoft Edge browser (see image above).
- You'll now see Copilot in a sidebar on the right-hand side of Microsoft Edge.
- You can now ask Copilot to interact with the information you have open in your browser. For example, you can ask Copilot to translate parts of the web page or summarize the content of a PDF you have open.
Keep in mind that Copilot doesn't save your history, so copy and save the results you get.
