Download to your Canvas course

“Introduction to Academic Honesty” is a self-study course that can be downloaded to any Canvas course. Through lessons, exercises, and quizzes, the micro-course allows students to practice developing an independent and honest approach to sources. Introduction to Academic Honesty is therefore well suited as an introduction to a course where students are expected to write one or more academic texts. The micro-course consists of two parts: “Writing in an Academic Context” and “Supporting Writing with Sources”.

The course takes students approximately one hour to complete, and they can work through it at their own pace. There is also a teacher’s guide with tips—for example, on how teachers can support their students’ writing.

Teacher's Guide

The teacher’s guide is available in a Canvas course that you can join: Register for Academic Honesty. The course and the teacher’s guide are available for download in both Swedish and English.

In 2025, a number of pilot teachers were given the opportunity to let their students try the micro-course. Some included it as a mandatory element in courses with written examinations. All teachers were positive about the course and felt it was particularly suitable during the students’ first year. Teachers said that the course was well structured and looked professional. They also noted that students who completed the course were better at referencing correctly and demonstrated a greater awareness of academic honesty.
