One of the new students is Alyssa from Canada, who will study the Master’s Programme in Work Integrated Political Studies.

“I am really excited to be here in Sweden and I am really looking forward to getting to know many new people,” she says.

In total, international students, both new and returning, are expected to make up around 10 percent of the university’s full-time equivalent students this autumn. Most are enrolling in full degree programmes, with the most popular being the master’s programmes in Operations and Supply Chain Management, Sustainable Development and Leadership in Digitalised Organisations. Other students will spend one semester at University West as exchange students.

“We put a lot of effort into offering an attractive and constantly updated range of programmes that meet the needs of both society and students. That is what attracts international talents to University West and Trollhättan,” says Tomas Bengtsson, Director of International Affairs.

The introduction days for international students have already begun, but not all have arrived yet. The process of obtaining a residence permit is lengthy, and many students are still waiting for a decision.

“It is unfortunate that not everyone receives their residence permit in time, but we are aware of this and therefore give students the opportunity to begin their studies online,” explains Tomas Bengtsson.
