Customized Swedish Course for International Students
05 Mar 2025
Recently, a Swedish course for international program students started at University West. The course has been developed in collaboration between University West and our strategic partner Kunskapsförbundet Väst.
-We are very pleased that more and more international program students choose to study at University West. We also hope that the students choose to stay in Sweden after completing their education to contribute to our skills supply. Therefore, it feels especially good that we can offer this customized education, says the university’s Pro Vice-chancellor Lena Sjöberg.
The education has been specifically developed for the target group of international program students.
Lena Sjöberg explains that Johan Ceder, the principal of Adult Education at Kunskapsförbundet Väst, presented the idea of the customized education.
-Together, we landed on a concept with an education specially adapted to the needs and wishes of the student group. The education is underway, and the start has been very successful.
Already, 44 students have signed up for the course, and they will be offered two hours of classes per week during the spring. Planning for a continuation in the autumn is in full swing.
Collaboration with the strategic partner Kunskapsförbundet Väst
Kunskapsförbundet Väst is one of the university’s strategic partners.
-The education is an excellent example of successful collaboration, in this case between University West and Kunskapsförbundet Väst. Many people have been involved, and the cooperation has worked all the way.
This is what Johan Ceder says and continues:
-A little extra gratifying is the collaboration that is emerging between Kunskapsförbundet and the teacher education at University West, with three teacher students employed as student assistants. Together with the team of experienced language teachers from Kunskapsförbundet, the student assistants teach the course.
-We are joining forces to find solutions for the best of the international students. Additionally, some of our teacher students get excellent opportunities to practice the teaching role already now, agrees Lena Sjöberg.
