During two days postgraduate students met at University West to share their professional experiences and to meet PhD-students. It’s the first alumni meeting for postgraduate students who have received a doctor or licentiate degree from the research environment Production Technology West (PTW).
Per Nylén (Head of Production Technology West at University West) and Esmaeil Sadeghi can see a lot of advantages with an alumni-network within Production Technology.
So far, there are 50 graduates who are currently working in various universities and world-leading companies including Rolls-Royce, ESAB, Sandvik, SKF and Volvo.
– The aim is to create a strong network between the researchers where they can exchange professional experiences, give feed-back about programmes and courses at University West and support PhD-students with career advice, says Esmaeil Sadeghi who initiated the start-up of the alumni network. Esmaeil examined as a doctor in Thermal spraying 2018 and is now working as a post-doc on Additive Manufacturing at PTW.
The idea is to arrange an alumni meeting every two year – and some meetings may be virtual.
