Record Number of International Students at University West

The University West campus is bustling with international students. This week, introductions are being held for nearly 400 students who have come from all over the world to study at the university this fall.

Closer to 400 international students are arriving in Trollhättan and at University West for the start of the fall semester. They come to study programmes or for exchange studies. India, Nepal, and Germany are some of the approximately 50 countries that you will be able find represented in the university classrooms.
“It’s fantastic to see so many international students on campus, a result of our internationalization efforts,” says Mats Jägstam, Vice-Chancellor of University West.
Another highlighted factor for success is offering of programmes that meet the demands of both society and students.
“We work actively to create attractive programmes, across a wide range of subjects, to attract international talents and to strengthen our global recruitment,” explains Tomas Bengtsson, responsible for international student recruitment.
Two of the master’s programs that have had the most international applicants this year are the Master in Sustainable Development and the Master in Operations and Supply Chain Management, which is starting for the first time this fall.
Chipiliro Banda from Malawi is one of many who have arrived at University West this week. He will study the Master in Cybersecurity.
“It feels great to be here and I’m very excited to become a part of University West,” says Chipiliro Banda. “This has been a dream of mine, that has now finally come true.”
The exchange student Liu Yifei has traveled from China to take courses in economics. She is also excited to be here. Additionally, her first impression of Sweden so far is that it is warmer than she expected [so far].
