A group of 40 international programme students has successfully completed the newly launched Swedish course. The course is designed to enhance the students’ ability to stay and work in Sweden after graduation.
The first group of international programme students at University West has now completed the newly developed Swedish course, created in collaboration with Knowledge Association West. The course aims to strengthen students' language skills and increase their chances of staying and working in Sweden after graduation.
The course is specifically designed for international programme students at University West and to participate is free of charge.
One of the participants is Angel Peralta from Peru.
“I wanted to reinforce the Swedish I already knew,” he says. “I had never taken a proper Swedish course before, and when I saw that this course was offered at the university, I thought, 'Why not?'”
A total of 40 students participated during the spring semester. The lessons were held two hours a week on campus, combining both theoretical and practical exercises.
Angel explains that it has been very beneficial to speak Swedish with the teacher and teaching assistants. In addition, he has also learned more about the technical aspects of the language, such as grammar.
The collaboration with Knowledge Association West has been crucial in making the course a reality and serves as a clear example of how strategic cooperation can create added value – both for students and for employers in the region.
Plans for a continuation of the language course in the fall are already underway. Angel would definitely recommend other students to take the opportunity to participate in the course.
“This course is perfect to combine with other studies, especially if you’re a beginner and want to learn more about both the language and Swedish culture. It’s a fantastic opportunity to start integrating into society in a meaningful way.”
