The scholarship funds will be taken from the sale of the last SAAB ever produced by the Stallbacka factory in Trollhättan. The car will be auctioned through Bilweb Auctions.

- This collaboration with NEVS is exciting. Our University has prioritized the work with the UN Sustainable Development Agenda, and we are constantly trying to maximize the societal impact of our sustainability efforts. This scholarship fits perfectly with those efforts, says Martin Hellström, vice chancellor of University West.

The car being auctioned is a silver SAAB 9-3 2.0T Automatic (model year 2014) with only about 70 kilometers on the odometer. It was pulled from the production line for planned testing. The car runs on fossil fuel.

- It feels great, and very symbolic, that the last fossil fuel car built at the Stallbacka production plant is used to stimulate the transition to sustainable mobility, says Stefan Tilk, CEO of NEVS.

The annual ”NEVS Sustainable Mobility Scholarship” will be awarded to an individual who has made significant contributions to promote mobility solutions for the future – from electric vehicle technology, sharing economy to self-driving cars. Everything from research to advocacy efforts will be considered.
