The library's research support is responsible for instructions and Word templates for the thesis and licentiate thesis. The doctoral thesis and licentiate thesis must in their external design follow the graphic profile established by FUN.

Important to keep in mind!

1. Read through this entire web page with instructions.

2. Decide on the delivery date – the date on which you want the printed theses delivered (no later than one week before the posting or licentiate seminar).

3. No later than 5 weeks before the delivery date – make an initial contact with the printing company. When you have agreed on a timetable with the printing company, a copy of it must always be sent to the library's research support. If it is a compilation thesis - check what publishing rights you have (e.g. Creative Commons license) and contact the library's research support if you have any questions.

4. No later than 4 weeks before the delivery date – fill in the form "Ordering thesis information" in the Digital Service Center to receive the documents "Previous theses" (only applies to doctoral theses) and "Thesis info" (here you will find, among other things, serial number, ISBN number).

5. At least 3 weeks before the delivery date (unless otherwise agreed with the printer) – deliver the following to the printer:

  • a summary text about the thesis/licentiate thesis that is placed on the back cover (approx. 700 characters)
  • Portrait photo
  • text about who you are (approx. 300 characters)
  • Cover photo, if any,
  • The submission of the thesis/licentiate thesis converted to PDF (according to the Word template or other format)
  • the document "Thesis Info"
  • the subject in which the thesis is written
  • the document "Previous theses" (only applies to doctoral theses)
  • Spikblad (only applies to doctoral thesis)
  • In the case of aggregation; also include the publications you want to include in PDF

The printing house will then send proofs that must be approved before printing. Then it is important to check that all the information is correct (proofs are also sent to the library's research support who check that the serial number and ISBN number are correct).

Important deadlines

NOTE! Keep in mind that set deadlines do not take into account longer weekends and holiday periods. On these occasions, the times may need to be adjusted.
