AMSi - Additive Manufacturing of Silicon Steels for electrical vehicles
Exploring the feasibility of using additive manufacturing (Directed Energy Deposition-Laser with powder, DED-LB/p) with silicon steels as a new manufacturing route for Electrical Vehicles motors.
Thermal and structural analysis using multi-physics simulation will be conducted and correlated to resulting microstructure and magnetic properties. University West has been at the forefront of additive manufacturing for over a decade, developing and implementing DED-LB/p technology into industrial production. FEV is a key engineering partner in Scandinavia for the automotive sector. Both partners together have the equipment, infrastructure, and expertise to accomplish the objectives of this project.
