New independent Resilient value chains for production using wire arc Additive Manufacturing
Project NewDReAM will advance additive manufacturing of large steel components and strengthen the resilience of Swedish manufacturing.
The project explores shifting from conventional methods (casting, forging, milling, welding) toward a new value chain with wire arc additive manufacturing (WAAM). WAAM will be applied for repair, upgrading, and combined printing of advanced, tailor-made components from simple shapes. Full-scale demonstrators will showcase the potential and serve as a basis for seminars and demo activities to inspire wider adoption across industries. The project also aims to ensure that an expanded WAAM value chain is established within three years after completion, supporting a more sustainable and CO2-neutral production in Sweden.
