RAMP - Robust Additive Manufacturing in production and material re-use
The PhD project will focus on the development of monitoring possibilities of additive materials to enable sustainable processing.
This will include emissivity-based measurements, e.g. spectral and hyperspectral imaging to characterize the powder/wire surface conditions before processing. In addition, the impact of surface conditions on laser light absorption will be evaluated. Potential impacts of material coatings/layers will be evaluated using surface wave measurements and high-speed imaging to derive impacts of material content on surface tension and melt pool dynamics. Spectral imaging will give indications about element vaporization during the process and possible alloy changes.
