REC - Remanufacturing Excellence Cluster
In an unstable world of resource scarcity, climate crisis, and geopolitical uncertainty, industries must reinvent how materials are used, reused, and produced. This calls for excellence clusters—global leaders that drive innovation and resource efficiency at scale.
Our vision is to position Sweden as a global leader in sustainable, data-driven, AI-supported production technologies for large-scale, industrialized remanufacturing by building on world-class expertise in metal additive manufacturing.
The Remanufacturing Excellence Cluster (REC) will harness the groundbreaking potential of metal-based additive manufacturing and other technologies to overcome material scarcity, strengthen resilience, advance sustainability, and create new competitive advantages for Swedish industry.
Remanufacturing is about returning an item to like new condition from both a quality and performance perspective using an industrial process. Our vision is that usage of remanufactured products shall become a natural part of our life. The ambition is that by 2035, REC will be a world-leading cluster with strong export growth, and a globally connected ecosystem.
