Sustainable Additive Manufacturing through Adaptive Laser Beam Shaping and Machine Learning
This project aims to develop an adaptive laser beam shaping system for the Directed Energy Deposition - Laser Beam wire (DED-LB/w) process to enhance microstructure control, reduce defects, and minimize the need for post-processing.
The goal is to achieve first-time-right manufacturing, improving process efficiency and sustainability.
To achieve this, the project will integrate adaptive laser beam shaping and real-time AI-driven process monitoring feedback control. This system will dynamically adjust key laser beam parameters, such as shape and intensity, to the instant process condition. By enabling real-time adaptability, the approach will enhance process stability, reduce the occurrences of imperfections, and ensure more consistent material properties.
