Cost-effective exterior brazing technique for vehicles
Project title: Lean Exterior Brazing -II (LEX-B)
This research project is intended to lower the cost of brazing visible exterior joints on vehicles. The project is being carried out by researchers from Swerea KIMAB and University West in collaboration with experts from within the vehicle industry. A normal application for brazing is joining where there are visual requirements, such as when joining the outer panels of car bodywork. Here, post-processing (for example, grinding, sealing or cover strips) should be avoided to obtain a cost-effective product. The aim of the project is to develop new cost-effective brazing techniques such as improved monitoring and process control techniques.
