The aim is to clarify the influence of plate processing parameters, hot isostatic processing route and welding procedure on low-temperature phase separations, known as 475°Cembrittlement, in highly alloyed duplex stainless steels base material and welds. As a result, recommendations will be developed on how to avoid the embrittlement during materials processing.
This research project focuses on laser metal deposition using powder as an additive (LMD-p).
This project aims to increase the use of aluminum alloys using innovative laser welding tools, as well as to significantly reduce the costly pre-tests in the welding of alloys in the production development phase.
The project goal is to extend application of the EBM and SLM techniques to next materials and applications in gas turbine components.
This research project concerns Gas-Shielded arc welding. The aim of the projects is to study a couple of the different methods and to increase the knowledge about how they can be used in an optimal way.
The research project Replab focus on additive manufacturing technologies (AM) for the field of re-manufacturing and repair to develop an economic, environmental and social long-term sustainable development.
RMS was a VINNOVA MERA programme, project 2006/00100 Robotstyrd Metallbyggnad via Smältning, coordinated by Volvo Aero. University West was involved in process development, off-line programming, automation and validation.
The overall aim of this proposal is to introduce ICME and computational tools based on the CALPHAD technique for superalloys to increase the materials development rate.
Additive Manufacturing (AM) of functional components, including complex structures challenging to manufacture by conventional methods (material removal), is a reality in progress. AM with metal deposition has gained interest beyond aerospace applications, by using Laser and Arc welding processes as driving force.
This is a presentation of several research projects run by University West where the aim is to investigate different aspects of welding of high strength steels.
This is a description of two research projects at University West concerning welding of superalloys.
