Preventive foot care that makes a difference – learning, collaboration, and quality of life in elderly care
The project aims to strengthen preventive efforts against diabetes-related foot ulcers in elderly care by exploring how nurses teach and how care staff learn foot care.
In collaboration with staff, a practical artefact will be developed and tested to support learning, teamwork, and preventive routines. The study is conducted in three phases: focus groups, co-creative workshops, and a pilot intervention in municipal elderly care. The goal is to improve quality of life, independence, and safety for older adults with diabetes. Ethical approval has been granted for parts of the study (Ref. 2024-07221-01), but a supplementary application may be required for year 3 depending on the intervention design.
