Immersive Civic Orientation in Virtual Reality: Integrating Worlds for Third Country Citizens
The purpose of this implementation project is to promote and contribute to effective integration and social inclusion of third-country nationals through the development of immersive (enhanced) civic orientation in Virtual Reality (VR).
The project will be carried out over three years in partnership between University West and the Integration Center in Gothenburg. The project aims to develop knowledge, methods, and VR technology that increase third-country nationals' engagement and participation in civic orientation activities that are challenging to realize in their current form. This primarily involves the development and use of virtual learning environments in VR, which integrate various interactive 'worlds' (e.g., situations, contexts) to aid third-country nationals' understanding of civic orientation and real-life scenarios related to "Freedom of Expression" and "Protection against Discrimination" in Sweden. The project's results will be disseminated through scientific articles, a dissertation, and national/international conferences.
