Work should be more than tasks—it should be meaningful, healthy, and sustainable. I explore how stress, resilience, and learning shape the future of work in Industry 5.0, where people can find meaning, health, and growth as they collaborate with technology.
My research brings together work-integrated learning (WIL) and industrial-organizational psychology within the framework of Industry 5.0 to explore how work can be both meaningful and sustainable. As automation, robotics, and AI transform industries, the principles of Industry 5.0—human centricity, sustainability, and resilience—remind us that technology should serve people, not the other way around. WIL strengthens this idea by showing how learning and growth can be part of everyday work, making sure that change supports both organizations and individuals. By combining these perspectives, I look at how humans and technology can work together to create workplaces that encourage participation, well-being, and lifelong learning. This leads to my focus on work-related health, where stress and resilience are key to building a sustainable future of work.
A key part of my research is work-related health, with a focus on stress and resilience during times of industrial change. When demands are high and control is low, stress levels rise, but resilience and active participation can make a real difference. I explore how organizations can involve employees in shaping work processes and competence development, so that solutions are not only effective but also meaningful for those who use them. Through co-production and participatory methods, I study how workplaces can become healthier, more engaging, and better prepared for future challenges. In this way, my research connects the principles of Industry 5.0 with everyday working life, aiming to create environments where people can thrive while organizations succeed.
