Prior to the start of the program, students admitted will be sent an e-confirmation letter (to the email address you provide upon registration) with information about tuition fee as well as instructions to access courses and the program. Please note that some courses may have mandatory group work and mandatory chats where you will be required to be logged into your course at specific times for specified periods of time. These requirements will be indicated in the course description.

It is important that you as a student ensures that all technology works and that you can access and use all systems prior to paying the tuition fee. To do this, we have made it possible to create your University West UserID and password early by going to http://mittkonto.hv.se choosing English, Create Account. You should use the Personal identity number that you received making your application. Further down on this page you’ll find a link  to the test instructions page.

Minimum technical and software requirements for online learning courses

You will need regular access to a personal computer with an internet connection. High-speed broadband access is necessary. For the optimal learning experience you need a computer system with a webcam + headset with microphone following these minimum requirements:

PC

Compatible Operating System: Windows 7 or 10
Web browser: Firefox, Chrome or Edge

Mac

Compatible Operating System: OS X
Web browser: Firefox, Chrome or Safari

Communication software

Note, that some software cannot, due to legal issues, be used from some countries. It is important that you test if it works from your country before you start the education. University West cannot be held responsible if it does not work and are unable to offer a workaround or alternative solution.

The specific software you need to check are Windows Virtual Desktop, Zoom  and Canvas.

Windows Virtual Desktop

Windows Virtual Desktop is a technical solution for running applications without being installed
locally on your computer.

Canvas

Canvas is the learning management system that University West use for communication between lecturers and students. Most of the communication and information is provided through this system or your student mail. In Canvas, you will find syllabuses, compulsory modules, exams and study schedule and other useful information
for your program.

Zoom

Zoom is a web-based conferencing system with full audio, video and screen sharing capabilities. The teachers at University West use Zoom for teaching and supervision. When you connect to a Zoom-session you should use a headset to get good quality audio.
