DURING YOUR STUDIES ABROAD – THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND
New circumstances – new challenges
Many students find the first period abroad challenging, and it is not uncommon to feel homesick or even consider returning home.
If you experience this, please remember that it is completely normal and that these feelings usually pass with time. It takes a while to settle into a new environment and to build new connections. You are always welcome to contact us if you need someone to talk to. Facing and managing these challenges is part of the experience of studying abroad, and you will grow from it by allowing yourself time to adjust.
Try not to withdraw into yourself. Instead, take part in activities that are organised, even if it feels difficult at first. These activities often help you settle in, as they give you something else to focus on and help you connect with others.
You represent University West
Remember that you are a representative of University West while abroad. Be a good ambassador for the university and actively encourage other students to come and study in Trollhättan. Take part in information sessions, meetings, and similar activities, and help spread information about University West.
If you need brochures or other promotional material, for example for a Study Abroad fair, please contact the International Office.
We also rely on students to help us spread information about exchange studies and will share opportunities for this—so get involved when you can!
