WHAT IS IAESTE?
IAESTE stands for the International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience and mediates international internships for students and recruits qualified interns for companies and authorities. Students get practical experience abroad in their subject area. The organization is primarily focused on technology, natural sciences and architecture, but also has students in, for example, economics and marketing in its network. IAESTE is represented in over 80 countries and on all continents.

WHAT CAN YOU AS A UW STUDENT DO?

As an HV student, you can apply for internships via IAESTE during any part of your education that you choose, and in many cases also after completing your degree (within a year afterwards). It is possible to apply for both shorter summer internships and longer internships that span one or two semesters. These can also often be combined with ex-jobs if the program manager at your university agrees.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The places are not provided by Högskolan Väst.

The application is made directly to IAESTE. Read more about how to apply on IAESTE's website.

The IAESTE host at your destination will help arrange accommodation, and will invite you to various social activities. You also get help with everything administrative, such as applying for a visa, work permit and opening a bank account.

Most internships have English as the main language. In some cases, there are other language requirements, which in that case can be seen from the location description.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

All IAESTE places are paid. The internship salary varies but must always be at least enough for food and living. The compensation levels depend on who the employer is and in which country it is concerned.
