Forskningsintresse

Anettes forskning har två ben; dels forskar hon om hur man kan främja och mäta det professionella stöd som ges både vid barnafödande och amning. Forskningen innefattar kunskap, effekter och teoribildning kring professionellt och socialt stöd i barnafödande. Forskningen innefattar både föräldrarnas och vårdpersonalens perspektiv som till exempel föräldrarnas relation och känslor för barnet, stöd inför barnafödande, främjande av föräldraskap och lärande kring stöd. Metoder som används är observationer, intervjuer, longitudinella randomiserade kontrollerade interventionsstudier och kohortstudier.

Den andra delen av hennes forskning handlar bland annat om hur komplementära metoder kan främja hälsan på arbetsplatser. I forskningsprojekten samarbetar hon med offentlig sektor och på senare år även privata aktörer, vilka tillför en ny dimension och spännande möjligheter att arbeta tillsammans för att göra nytta i samhället.

Forskningsresultat

Anettes forskning har fått positiv respons efter genomförd  utbildnings-intervention. För att främja vårdpersonalens attityder baserades utbildningsinterventionen på evidens, praktiska erfarenheter och reflektioner kring både professionella och privata erfarenheter kring barnafödande, i mitt genomförda forskningsprojekt. Kvinnor som mött vårdpersonal som genomgått utbildningsinterventionen var mer nöjda med det professionella stöd som erbjöds, amningen och sin känsla och relation till barnet 

När Anette arbetade inom vården såg hon att vården kan bli bättre på att erbjuda patienter det stöd de efterfrågar. För Anette är det givande och spännande att få ta del av unika behov både hos individer och samhälle för att för att kunna utveckla utbildningarna och vården i positiv riktning.

Undervisning/handledning

Anette Ekström är involverad i utbildning även på forskarnivå. Hon har erfarenhet av handledning av doktorander men inte av att direkt planera och genomföra forskarutbildning. Dessutom handleder och examinerar hon studenters magisteruppsatser, vissa av dem gör sina studier i  hennes forskningsprojekt.  

Bakgrund

Anette Ekström är både legitimerad sjuksköterska och barnmorska och har arbetat kliniskt i cirka 20 år. Det var det som gav henne inspiration att försöka förbättra vården för att kunna erbjuda ett gott professionellt stöd. Hon trivdes mycket bra att arbeta inom vården, men nu möter hon patienter, professionella inom hälso- och sjukvården genom studenter och forskningen.
