Research area/Research interest

Huvudfokus för forskningen är termisk sprutning med keramiskt material. 

 

Mohit Gupta antagogs som docent i produktionsteknik med inriktning mot termisk sprutning vid Högskolan Väst i september 2018. Han är verksam vid forskningsmiljön Produktionsteknik Väst. Hans huvudsakliga forskningsområde är termisk sprutning av keramiska beläggningar som till exempel används inom flygindustrin. Mohit Gupta disputerade vid Högskolan Väst i januari 2015 med avhandlingen "Design of Thermal Barrier Coatings - A Modeling Approach". Efter disputationen anställdes han som lektor på högskolan och fortsatte arbetet med att utveckla keramiska lager för gasturbinsindustrin genom att använda nya processer. Genom att använda nano- eller submikrometriska partiklar i suspension som utgångsmaterial vid termisk sprutning kan man skapa en ny typ av beläggningar som visar bättre prestanda.

Forskningen fokuserar på utformningen av nästa generations ytbeläggning med suspension termisk sprutning för gasturbinapplikationer. I framtiden kommer han också att arbeta med att utveckla beläggningar som är mer tåliga mot nötning att användas i miljövänliga dammfria bromsskivor i fordonsapplikationer.

About the Ph D
Mohit Gupta graduated from University West as a PhD in Production Technology on 16th January, 2015 by defending his thesis titled 'Design of Thermal Barrier Coatings – A modelling approach'. During his PhD, he was involved in two research projects as a part for the project frame SUMAN funded by the KK foundation involving multiple industrial partners. The first project consisted of the industrial partners GKN Aerospace, Oerlikon Metco and SIEMENS Turbomachinery, which was focussed on the design of next generation TBCs by using a combination of experimental and modelling approach. The second project consisted of industrial partners Oerlikon Metco, Höganäs AB and Catator AB, which was focussed on development of multi-layered thermal spray coatings for solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) fabrication. He has published six journal articles, four conference articles, and a book in the series SpringerBriefs in Materials. He is a reviewer in the journals Surface and Coatings Technology and Journal of Thermal Spray Technology.

Apart from these two projects, he has been involved in internationalisation activities of University West with India. He has been working part-time with the international office and was engaged in 2013 as an international coordinator for India. He is responsible for incoming students from India, contacting and setting up collaborations as well as exchange agreements with Indian institutes, with focus on higher education and research activities at University West.

Courses in which I have been involved in teaching are: XX5797 - Advanced Production Technology, FMB300 – Finite Element Analysis, VFD900 - Heat Transfer, TDC500 - Thermodynamics, MTA101 - Mechanical Engineering and Supervision of bachelor and master internship and thesis students.
