Forskningsområde/Forskningsintresse

Intresset för människors psykiska hälsa och livssituation till följd av de svårigheter som en funktionsnedsättning kan innebära har genomsyrat min forskning sedan jag disputerade vid Psykologiska Institutionen, Göteborgs universitet 1990 (Tinnitus: Tolerance or Threat – Psychological and Psycho-physiological Perspectives). Betydelsefullt för mig som psykolog har varit att bidra till kliniska behandlingsstudier inom det audiologiska forskningsområdet och på så sätt öka medvetenheten om tinnitus och hörselnedsättningens psykologiska konsekvenser (Erlandsson, 1998; Erlandsson, 2000; Dauman and Erlandsson, 2012). I mitten av 1990-talet ökade andelen unga som sökte hjälp mot tinnitus och ljudkänslighet efter att de exponerats för skadliga ljudnivåer som t ex. vid rockkonserter. Genom att studera hur de unga förhöll sig till risker, musik och buller hade vi som mål att i ett antal forsknings- och doktorandprojekt med internationell förankring förebygga uppkomsten av hörselskador (Widén, & Erlandsson, 2007; Erlandsson, Holmes, Widén, & Bohlin, 2008).

Undervisning/handledning

I huvudsak är mina intresseområden i undervisningen relaterade till frågor om psykisk hälsa, funktionsvariation, utvecklingspsykologi i ett brett perspektiv samt kvalitativa forskningsmetoder. Stor betydelse har de etiska, demokratiska och humanistiska värdena i undervisningen liksom i forskningen. Vid sidan av handledning i psykologi på avancerad nivå har jag uppdraget som mentor för ett flertal forskningsprojekt vid högskolan.
