Industri 4.0 - Ny teknik i tillverkningsindustrin, 2,5 hp

This course covers Industry 4.0 and the industrial paradigms that have driven digitization and automation in manufacturing.

As at student you will explore the evolution from mechanization to smart manufacturing systems, analyzing the forces behind digital transformation. Key digitalization technologies are covered including Virtual Factory and Digital Twins for system simulation and optimization, Internet of Things (IoT) for connectivity and data collection, and Big Data and Artificial Intelligence for analytics and process optimization. Cybersecurity considerations are integrated throughout due to increased connectivity requirements.

The course uses case studies from various industries to examine implementation approaches and outcomes. Upon completion, you will understand digitalization technologies and their scientific foundations, identify improvement opportunities in manufacturing processes using Industry 4.0 technologies, and evaluate the suitability of different digital approaches for industrial applications.

The course combines theoretical instruction with practical exercises to prepare students for roles in manufacturing engineering, digital transformation, and technology implementation.

This course has been developed in collaboration with industry within the framework of one of our educational projects. The project aims to provide advanced level courses to a mix of students and professionals in order to strengthen the competitiveness of Swedish industry.
