Selection criterias for exchange studies applications
Because the number of exchange places and available scholarship funding is limited, applications are assessed according to established selection guidelines.
In the selection process, we follow the governing document Guidelines for Assessment and Selection: Application for contractual studies abroad and/or international placements at University West. You can find the full document at the bottom of this page.
How selection works – short overview
To be considered:
- Your application must be complete and submitted by the deadline. Incomplete applications are not included in the selection process.
- The study period abroad must fit within your programme at University West. If you are unsure, contact your departmental coordinator.
- You must be a full-time registered student at University West.
- At the time of application, you must have completed at least 80% of the credits in your programme up to the previous semester.
If there is competition for places:
- Priority may be given to students from the department linked to the partner agreement.
- You must apply for a place that matches your level of study (Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral).
- Academic progress (completed credits) is taken into account.
- Some placements are only available to students currently enrolled in a programme, while others may be available after programme completion.
- Departments rank applicants based on motivation letters and/or interviews.
Decision timeline:
- All applicants will be informed of the result.
- In most cases, you will receive a decision within four weeks after the application deadline.
