Computer account

To be able to log on to the university's computers and to use our IT services you need to have an University West account.

For more information on how to create your account, go to the page Before start of studies.

If you have an account already, you should continue to use that account. If it is closed you can use a self service to open it. To open an existing account, reset your password or read more, go to the page "My Account".


On the student's webpages, Student, you will find announcements, general information and links to our systems as well as login to Office 365. Under IT Services and Support, you will find information from the Service & IT department, for example, practical guides, FAQs, and information about software that you may install on your private computer etc.

Office 365

Office 365 is a web based solution for email and document management, as well as Teams and Sharepoint for collaboration in groups. It is important that you use your student email because you get a lot of the information from University West to this address.

Canvas – our learning platform

Canvas is the name of University West's learning platform. Canvas is used as a pedagogical tool to execute courses. In Canvas you will always find information about your course, schedule and literature list. Depending on how your teacher chooses to use Canvas you may also find quizzes, hand in assignments, discussion forums and much more. Please note! You will be given access to your course in Canvas automatically when you register for a course!

Home directory (H:\)

The home directory is a safe place to store your files. When you log on to any ­computer on campus you can access your home directory. Your home directory can be found under "This PC" in the File Explorer. It is the drive with your username and H:. We recommend that you save your work here because backups are done regularly. Do not ever save anything on drive C:! The size of your home directory is 10 GB.

The files saved in the home directory can also be accessed from any internet connected computer through the webservice

You can connect to WiFi at campus and many other places! Remember that even if you are a distance student you can use WiFi eduroam where it is available! You just need to have it installed!

Computers at campus

At University West we have about 300 computers for students. We have about 200 different applications. The Service & IT department only gives support on standard software. The standard softwares are installed at all of our computers. Where are the computers?

Please note! No food or drink beside the computers!

West card

To be able to print you need a West Card. Your West Card is also a key card and a library card. The pin code that you choose when you create your account belongs to your West Card. How do I get a West Card?

I want to print!

You can print, scan and copy at the university's multifunction printers. The University's printing and copying system only have cashless payments. How does it work?
