Sustainable travel to and from abroad
For those who have been granted a studies or internship at one of our partner universities covered by the Erasmus+ program (usually institutions within the EU/EEA), or who have been accepted to a Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) - there is the possibility of receiving compensation for sustainable travels.
If you choose a more environmentally friendly mode of transportation for the majority of your trip (both outbound and inbound), you may be eligible for additional compensation for green travel.
Green travel is compensated in relation to the distance you travel (see below), and you may receive compensation for up to 4 additional travel days (maximum 3 per direction). At least 50% of the journey (measured by distance, not travel time) must be green in both directions (not just one way).
It is important that you inform us at the International Office that you are planning this, as we need to include it in the calculation of your compensation. You will also need to submit documentation proving the green mode of transport and the additional travel days (if these have been approved).
Environmentally friendly modes of transportation (green travel) can include:
- Bus
- Train
- Car with at least 2 people (car-pooling)
(please note that boad/ferry is not classified as green travel mode)
Compensation for green travel based on the distance to the host institution abroad:
10–99 km: 56 EUR (28 EUR for non-green travel)
100–499 km: 285 EUR (211 EUR for non-green travel)
