The course aims at developing language proficiency and comprehension as well as the ability to analyse language structure and the position of English as a global language.
Throughout the course, students are given the opportunity to practice oral proficiency and written composition. Essays are also discussed in group forums for the purpose of further developing language skills. In addition, students get practice in linguistic analysis through the study of grammar and phonetics.
The course is given entirely online, and has an asynchronous set-up, with no scheduled meetings, neither on campus nor online. It can be combined with other courses at the basic, intermediate and advanced level in English at University West, for a Bachelor's degree or as part of a teacher's qualification or similar.
