WELCOME TO RESEARCH EDUCATION AT UNIVERSITY WEST
Do you want to continue your studies after your master`s degree? Then you should consider to become a PhD-student. Postgraduate education is equivalent to four years of full-time studies (240 credits) and ending with a PhD. After two years (120 credits), a licentiate degree can be obtained.
At University West we offer doctoral and licentiate degrees in the following subject areas:
- Production Technology
- Work integrated learning (WIL) - since 1 January 2020, a new, completely unique interdisciplinary postgraduate subject related to primarily the social sciences and humanities.
The doctoral program consists of 240 HE credits, or four years of full-time studies. Students take a number of courses determined by the subject of their research and write a dissertation. The results of your research are presented at a public defence
of your doctoral thesis. Throughout your studies as a doctoral student, you will have two supervisors to guide you and give you advice.
The licentiate program consists of 120 HE credits, or two years of full-time studies. Students take a number of courses determined by the subject of their research and write a licentiate thesis. The results of your research are presented in a seminar,
at which time you defend your licentiate thesis. Throughout your studies you will have two supervisors to guide you and give you advice.
