Our vision describes our university’s overarching mission, which we constantly strive to uphold. It expresses our role and the benefits to the society-at-large that we can offer. It is a compass in our daily work as well as for the long-term direction of our journey.

Our vision places demands upon us. Being an active member of the society means that we see a need, take a stand, take the initiative, and propel developments forward. We act and work together with the world around us, which means we are always seeking opportunities for collaboration outside of our academic sphere.

And making knowledge accessible to more people means that we take our role as an active player within society seriously and are constantly striving to broaden our recruitment base and reach more people. This imposes educational and communicative demands upon us to be accessible, open and inclusive. Our long-term efforts shall result in us contributing towards a more sustainable world through our actions.

University-wide impact goals and strategies

To succeed in our mission, we take advantage of our strengths and take advantage of our uniqueness. Three university-wide impact goals help us stay on course on the journey towards achieving our vision and ultimately to provide added value for society and our stakeholders. In addition, more specific impact goals for education and research as well as for the university's two complete academic environments have been drawn up and added during 2022. The goals are five-year and apply to the period 2022-2026.

In order for us to reach these goals and fulfill our mission with good effects for students, collaborative actors and society at large, we need to focus on a number of areas. For each goal, there are therefore some designated strategies that lay the foundation for us to successfully achieve our vision. Both goals and strategies are followed up annually.

Impact goals and strategies for education and research

Three specific impact goals for education and research are designed based on the university's three overall impact goals - all with the goal of achieving our vision. The goals are five-year and apply to the period 2022-2026.

In order for us to reach these goals and cope with our tasks in education and research, we need to focus on a number of areas. For each goal, there are therefore some designated strategies that lay the foundation for us to successfully achieve our vision. Both goals and strategies are followed up annually.

Two complete academic environments

The university invests in scientific excellence and ground-breaking international research and to be at the forefront in two main areas of strength. In this way, the university can take responsibility for local and regional social development that meets current needs, become a national leader and make an impression internationally. To profile oneself and sharpen the unique areas of strength is a matter of survival.

Therefore, the university concentrates its activities towards two complete academic environments, Work Integrated Learning and Production technology, where collaboration, research and education at all levels are integrated and create new multidisciplinary knowledge.

As of January 1, 2023, the environments are formally in place and will be built over the next 10 years based on the strategic plans that have been designed.
