Between the 10th and 12th of May 2023, University West hosted the national conference HSS.
HSS stands for Högskola och Samhälle i Samverkan, which roughly translates to Universities and Society in Collaboration. It is organized every other year by Swedish universities.
The conference focused on societal challenges and how institutions of higher learning and research can collaborate/co-create with industry, the public sector and civil society to tackle these challenges and work toward a sustainable future.
The conference was funded by the Knowledge Foundation (KK-stiftelsen), the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth (Tillväxtverket), and Sweden’s innovation agency Vinnova.
The theme for HSS2023 was “Working together, learning together, living together”. The conference featured many prominent speakers and touch on topics such as inclusion, green and digital transition, challenges to democracy, and life-long learning.
