Manufacturing Processes, 7.5 credits
In this course the most common manufacturing methods and processes are described as their historical development and advantages and limitations with respect to materials selection, capabilities, productivity and economics. The students are to be presented to the following overarching categories of manufacturing methods, casting, plastic forming, metal cutting and unconventional machining methods. A part of the course is focused on process planning for machining operations. Further, the course also including joining processes and additive manufacturing. Over all, the course has a perspective on the related economic aspects of manufacturing
