The course is a basic course in mechanics that forms the basis of many other physics and engineering. The course is divided into two separate parts, Statics and Dynamics, and it covers following areas:
  • Physical quantities, units, and dimensions
  • Free body diagrams
  • Equilibrium of particles and rigid bodies
  • Friction
  • Kinematic relations for particles and rigid bodies
  • Kinematic of particles in different coordinate systems, Newtons laws of motion
  • Energy, work, power, and mechanical efficiency
  • Finite element analysis of mechanical systems
  • Problem solving of mechanical systems
