Believe it or not, but economics is something that affects all people. Specifically in this course, dealing with the microeconomic issues, studies of how households, firms and public sector in a society use their resources are in focus. Issues being analyzed are for example: How do households and firms choose what to buy, sell, save and invest? How much do the households work and how much labour do the firms choose to use? How can the government, by using taxes, subsidies and legislation, affect the economy in a desirable direction? By providing a basic understanding of the microeconomic theories, the aim is that the students are able to apply these theories by themselves when different problems are analyzed.
