The course addresses thermodunamics and basic heat transfer with mathematical formulation and analytical solution. It will give a good understanding of the physics underlying the studied phenomena, and training on problem formulation, modelling and analytical solving, and results discussion. The course covers following:
  • Basic concepts of thermodynamics
  • Properties of substances including in two-phase regions
  • Steady and transient heat conduction
  • Natural and forced convection
  • Radiation heat transfer
  • First law of thermodynamics for open and closed systems
  • Second law of thermodynamics - Application in cyclic processes
