The course covers automated production systems and their components. It covers various control systems used in industrial automation and the most common sensors in these systems. The course includes binary arithmetic and Boolean algebra as the base for programming of programmable logic controllers (PLCs).

The course gives skills in understanding and using PLCs for both open and closed-loop control. It includes evaluating different automation systems and their impact on the production process.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Degree of Bachelor of Science in computer engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or industrial engineering and management. Additionally, the Bachelor of Science degree must be comprised of a minimum of 5 HE credits in programming and 15 HE credits in mathematics. Verified knowledge of English corresponding to the course English 6 or English level 2 in the Swedish Upper Secondary School (high school) or equivalent.
