Quality and productivity improvements are essential elements of the overall strategic plan for most organisations. This has led to renewed interests in statistical methods for quality and process improvements. This course provides a comprehensive treatment of the major aspects of using the statistical methodology for quality control and improvement. Both traditional and modern methods are presented, including state-of-the-art techniques for statistical process control and design of experiment. This course contains computer assignments in a close connection with the theoretical concepts given during lectures and follows with a project regarding design of experiement. It gives the necessary competences in statistics, which is applied in manufacturing and other industrially-connected engineering educations.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Degree of Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering or equivalent. The Bachelor of Science degree must be comprised of at least 15 credits of mathematics including basic knowledge of analysis, linear algebra and statistics. In addition, verified knowledge of English corresponding to the course English B, English 6 in the Swedish high school or equivalent.
